Govert Family Wines - Grandé

Tasting Notes:

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The nose offers layers of cassis, berries, cedar and a touch of spice and minerals. The wine has firm fine tannins and brilliant fruit resulting in a long concentrated finish. It has been aged in new and 2nd fill French oak barrels for 18 months. This wine has an ageing potential of at least 10 years.

Sommeliers drinking guideline:

This wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. The wine should reach its optimum drinking window in 5-8 years from now. If the wine is enjoyed now, make sure to decant it for at least two hours before serving. This wine can be cellared for up to 15 years under perfect conditions for aging red wine.

Food Suggestion:

Fillet of beef with a black pepper/black mushroom sauce, rack or slow roasted leg of lamb with a rosemary crust, game fillet (gemsbok, springbok or kudu) steak with a creamy wholegrain mustard sauce or a juicy steak.
